The Italian American Heritage Society of Long Island seeks a 2025 summer intern. All applicants should email a cover letter of interest to [email protected]. This is an unpaid internship, but ITA-LI leadership will sign off on possible college credit opportunities.
Position Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Summer Intern(s) to support our initiatives in cultural preservation, education, communications, and event planning. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates interested in Italian American culture, nonprofit work, history, strategic communications, education, or community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and promoting cultural programs
- Help build the ITA-LI Student Advisory Group
- Support content creation for social media, newsletters, and press releases
- Help organize historical archives and digital storytelling projects
- Conduct research on notable Italian American figures and local history
- Attend and assist at community events, festivals, or speaker series
- Perform administrative and organizational tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Strong interest in Italian American culture, history, or heritage
- Open to High school or college students
- Preferably students majoring in Italian or interested in going to college for Italian, International Relations, or something related to Italian studies (culture, history, education)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized
- Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
- Experience with Canva or content tools is a plus
- Reliable transportation to local events or meetings (if in-person)
- Fluency in or familiarity with the Italian language is a bonus, but not required
